Caspian WebMET
Real-time Metocean data available to the offshore industry through internal company networks or over the World Wide Web.
WebMET has been developed by Muir Matheson to meet the needs of the offshore oil and gas industry following two reports:
1 - ‘Weather Sensitive Offshore Operations and Metocean Data’ – HSE 2000
2 - ‘A Coordinated Approach for Metocean Activities’ – UKOOA Metocean Committee 2002
Shell METNET provided the foundation to launch this inter-company network which uses OPNET, operated by Data Marine Systems Ltd. Aberdeen, to allow the secure exchange of data. Measurements of wind, waves, temperature, humidity, pressure, cloud and visibility are distributed and archived by the system and this real-time data can be linked to site specific weather forecasts.
