Muir Matheson provide a wave monitoring system utilising the Rex Wave radar (manufactured by Rosemount) in conjunction with Muir Matheson PACE software which delivers detailed real time and historical data for the following processes:
- Safety status monitoring
- Sea state assessment for operations
- Structural monitoring
- Input to Met-Ocean systems
- Weather forecasting
- Air-gap studies & Water gap studies
The PACE software analyses and processes the information it receives from the sensor and presents a display to the end user indicating Maximum Wave Height (Metres), Average Wave height (Metres) and Wave Period (Seconds) over a pre-defined timescale.
As an example the historical information provided by the system could be used for trending purposes to assess future sea states when considering the best weather window to move a Jack up drilling rig to and from a specific area. The real time information could be used to asses sea state conditions prior to conducting operations involving ROV deployment or other support vessel activities.
The system can and has been fitted to fixed Platforms, semi-submersible platforms, drilling Rigs and FPSO’s.
