Although geographically close to Muir Matheson’s base in Aberdeen, travel overland to the more remote
areas of Scotland can be time consuming and so the network of airfields operated by Highlands & Islands Airports provides a lifeline to these communities.
Philip Goodall, Managing Director comments: “Our project to upgrade six Metcom systems in the region is well underway with the first two systems having recently entered service at Sumburgh in Shetland and Stornoway in the Western Isles. The new systems use our Windows Metcom software with ATIS and have the benefit of hot standby servers to provide additional reliability. Over the coming month’s systems at Kirkwall, Benbecula, Wick and Inverness will also be upgraded by our airport team
working alongside Highlands & Islands Airports
engineers”.
Muir Matheson has also recently supplied a
system to Oban Airport on the west coast of Scotland. Expansion is taking place here with local services being developed in Scottish cities and the out lying islands, the Metcom system will assist by providing reliable data in a very changeable environment.
