Airport Weather Systems has been a key business focus for Muir Matheson in 2004, with more than two million pounds worth of projects secured and established in several key UK and international airports. Our aim with airport weather services is to provide a fully integrated product that incorporates weather observing, data handling and forecast information.
For the past eight years we have worked with National Air Traffic Services (NATS) in the UK, providing our Met Office-evaluated METCOM automatic airport weather software. Our work with airport weather systems began in Stansted with DOS software and developed to include a further seven airports in 2001 in Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London City and London Gatwick. Manchester Airport is now also using our upgraded METCOM 2000 Windows software for its two runways and our core airport team of four engineers is currently working on two new systems for London Heathrow. The Airport Weather Systems have proved a huge success due to the technological advantage of automation, which has huge time saving and personnel benefits. This reliable system is fully duplicated and promotes efficient work practices, with weather monitoring taking as little as one minute every hour. |
