When did you start work at Muir Matheson?
I started work at Muir Matheson in April 2000 and previously worked for Expro North Sea.
What types of positions have you held with the Company?
When I joined the company as 'Operations Engineer' I worked mainly on maintenance and calibration of our systems offshore in the UKCS. I was then promoted to 'Project Engineer' and as my experience grew I was made 'Senior Project Engineer'. In 2005 I advanced to 'Offshore Operations Team Leader' - a new position intended to provide improved internal technical support, planning and problem solving to the engineering department.
What's the most interesting aspect of your job?
The variation in the work - from systems integration on four of Shell's Dutch sector offshore platforms to working on systems in Kazakhstan, you don't know for sure what is coming next.
Has your job taken you to any unusual destinations?
I've mainly been working offshore in the North Sea, but have also undertaken projects in Atyrau Kazakhstan working for Agip KCO. I'd say working there is quite unusual and interesting in comparison to some places. Cold winters -40 degrees C to hot summers +40 degrees C can be challenging.
