CVMet is a brand new cloud and visibility display program which provides controllers with a graphic display of the current conditions of the aerodrome. It can be utilised with a forward scatter present weather/visibility sensor, a dedicated visibility sensor or any laser cloud base recorder. The program disseminates the information provided by the sensors and displays it on multiple workstations as a live graph for instant visual recognition of incoming weather phenomena.
For smaller operations such as Air Ambulance or Police Air Support Units the software can simply be used to give real-time displays of weather minimal for helicopter operations. If the requirement is to produce METARs then CVMET can be configured to process the incoming sensor data to provide cloud, visibility and present weather calculations which can be confirmed by the observer or used in a fully automatic AWOS system.
