Muir Matheson Ltd - Weather Monitoring Systems for Airports & Offshore

About Us

Muir Matheson Ltd. are world leaders specialising in the design, build, installation and maintenance of weather monitoring equipment.  Existing markets are Oil and Gas installations, industrial plants and airports, including several prestigious customers worldwide.  We have particular skills in integrating weather systems to customer specifications and have developed a range of software packages to add value to equipment designed and built by others.  This is fully backed up with ongoing maintenance, calibration and support services.

The products offered by Muir Matheson range from simple replacement sensors through basic measurement packages, to comprehensive turnkey meteorological and oceanographic monitoring systems. These systems work around the clock where hot standby circuits will automatically take over should the primary system fail, with up to three systems working in parallel.

Muir Matheson check, calibrate and repair a wide range of systems and sensors – a significant part of the company business.   The company’s staff have a wide experience of many manufacturer’s sensors, and many other vendors systems, and can provide workshop and telephone support from our extensive facilities in Aberdeen.  In-house development ensures we incorporate the latest technology, to the customers exact requirements.

Our SO/2000 compact weather system is a self-contained measurement, processing and display system is suitable for equipment rack or console mounting.  It is designed for use on offshore platforms, FPSO, support vessels and onshore bases, and provides simple user interface of primary meteorological information, displayed on high brightness LED Displays.  Processing and presentation conforms to ICAO specifications, making the system particularly suitable for supporting helicopter operations.  In particular the SO/2000 is designed to be compatible with the Muir Matheson Pace Display weather monitoring display package for Windows 2000 or XP workstations so that real-time information is available to every operator.  SO/2000 is compatible with all common meteorological sensors making it ideal for both new build installations and systems upgrade.

Software development is a key activity.  We offer a comprehensive data acquisition, logging and display systems known as PACE (mentioned above).  The company has over 25 years of expertise in the software interpretation of real time cloud data taken from instruments which assess the height of clouds, and of data from a number of weather sensors to enhance the reporting of prevailing weather conditions.  A commitment to ongoing research and development into further techniques for the analysis of cloud formation and presentation of data in a meaningful form means we are at the forefront of developing fully automated observation systems

The company’s ultimate product is accurate and reliable environmental data, which is in daily use at airports and offshore oil and gas installations.
