Safety Notice (06/04/2006)- Concerning IM146 Wind Sensors

An anemometer is used to measure the force and direction of wind. It can be used onshore or offshore, and also comes in an intrinsically safe version for use in explosive gas atmospheres when connected through protective zener barriers to the power supply. Generally the anemometer is mounted on a 3 metre pole to ensure that the unit is mounted in free air away from any obstructions. Anemometers can also come in handheld versions.
